Here’s what to expect after booking an appointment with us.
- Initial visit: Our experienced Glazier will visit your home to measure the existing glass panel and discuss the best location of the pet door opening.
- Panel creation: Our specialists will craft a bespoke toughened glass panel with your chosen pet door to seamlessly replace your existing panel. This could take up to 14 days as it is specially designed to fit your space.
- Installation: On the second visit, our Glazier will carefully remove the existing glass and install your personalised toughened safety glass panel, with the pet door seamlessly integrated into the cut-out.

We offer a range of glass-compliant pet doors from renowned brands that are made from tough polycarbonate plastic, which is ideal for installation into glass. To ensure a safe and long-lasting installation, each of our pet door types has a minimum panel requirement.

Remember if you have a puppy, you will need to ensure the door you select is big enough to accommodate your pet when it is fully grown.
Our consultants can help you choose the best door for your pet and discuss what you need to consider when thinking of where to place the pet door as well.

The location of your pet door should allow your pet easy or level access to a garden or safe space away from busy roads. At O’Brien Glass®, we only install pet doors in glass, most suited to low-level glazed panels in a door, sidelight or a lowlight panel located on the perimeter of a room.
We also install pet doors on sliding glass doors, as long as appropriate consideration is given to allow for the passing gap when the doors are opened.
We suggest that your pet door should not be easily visible from the street as this could be an access point for burglars.

Things to consider include:
– the size of the pet door
– the minimum glass panel size for the chosen pet door and
– the type of window or door that you’re thinking of installing the pet door into. For example, some pet doors cannot be installed in sliding doors.

Be prepared to provide measurements of the glass panels (and photos) to help with your enquiry. For safety and durability purposes, we only use toughened glass. This custom-made glass has to be precisely cut to size to suit your requirements, including the hole where the pet door will be installed. Toughened glass is more resilient to the constant flexing and knocking it will endure as your pet goes in and out of the door.
